چکیده

Abstract Background In wheat, nitrogen (N) remobilization from vegetative tissues to developing grains largely depends on genetic and environmental factors. The evaluation of potential crops under limited resource inputs such as N supply would provide an opportunity identify N-efficient lines with improved utilisation efficiency yield potential. We assessed the variation in wheat recombinant inbred (RILs) for uptake, partitioning, towards grain, its association grain protein concentration (GPC) yield. Methods used nested mapping (NAM) population (195 lines) derived by crossing Paragon (P) CIMMYT core germplasm (P × Cim), Baj Baj), Watkins Wat), Wyalkatchem Wya). These were evaluated field two seasons supply. plant sampling was done at anthesis physiological maturity stages. Various traits recorded total uptake other related indices calculated. deviation (GPD) calculated regression GPC. grouped into different clusters hierarchical cluster analysis based N-remobilization (NRE). Results accumulation biomass both pre- post-anthesis stages correlated grain-yield. NRE significantly aboveground (AGNa) but negatively associated AGN (AGNpa) suggesting higher till favours high during filling. Hierarchical these RILs resulted four clusters, efficient (31), moderately (59), inefficient (58), (47). lines, AGNa contributed 77% accumulated grains, while it 63% N-inefficient lines. Several also exhibited positive (GPD), combining Among crosses, P Cim superior N-efficient, Wya responded poorly low input. Conclusions propose that favouring or pre-anthesis may be targeted breeding improve grain-yield N. GPD, a first report genotype-dependent GPD AGNpa varieties resources GPC sustainable development conditions.

The effect of post-anthesis water supply on grain nitrogen concentration and grain nitrogen yield of winter wheat

The effect of water supply during grain growth on grain nitrogen concentration (GNC) and grain nitrogen yield (GNY) of winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) was studied in the field experiment on fertile loamy-clay soil in years 2004–2007. The water regime was differentiated using mobile rain shelter (water shortage, treatment S) and drip irrigation (ample water supply, treatment W); rain-fed cro...

Effects of post-anthesis heat stress and nitrogen levels on grain yield in wheat (T. durum and T. aestivum) genotypes

In order to study the effects of post-anthesis heat stress and nitrogen levels on grain yield and yield components of wheat genotypes, two separate field experiments were conducted in delayed and optimum sowing dates under Ahvaz conditions (2006-2007). The Ahvaz site located in south west of Iran (32°20' N, 40°20' E) with subtropical climate condition. The experiment site had a moderate w...

Effects of Foliage Removal and Using Different Nitrogen Rates on Remobilization of Pre-anthesis Assimilates to the Grain in a Dual-purpose (Forage and Grain) Barley

In order to study the source limitation and contribution of pre-anthesis assimilates to grain in dual-purpose (forage and grain) barley, a field experiment was carried out in Iran, Ahvaz region. The experimental design was split plot in randomized complete block with three replications. Application rates of nitrogen at four levels (60, 120, 180 and 220 kg.ha-1 N) were as main plots, while sub p...

Photosynthesis, grain yield, and nitrogen utilization in rice and wheat.

Rice (Oryza sativa) and wheat (Triticum aestivum) are the two most commercially important crops, accounting for more than 40% of global food production. They were domesticated in different climates and differ largely in their growth environments: Rice is tropically cultivated in hot, wet climates, whereas wheat tends to be grown in cooler temperate climates. However, both crops have been bred i...
